Retaining Walls

Strong structural solutions that combine functionality, stability, and design.

At CM Master Builders, we design and install retaining walls that fulfill essential structural functions for land stability and space efficiency. We provide this service in Berkeley, San Leandro, Hayward, among other areas, delivering durable solutions that integrate efficiency, aesthetics, and high-performance materials. Our goal is to maximize stability, strength, and environmental functionality while enhancing the exterior design of the property.

Retaining Wall Installation Process

  1. Site Evaluation and Structural Assessment
We begin with a site study to identify key variables such as slope, soil type, natural drainage, and the load the wall must support. This initial assessment allows us to define the most suitable type of wall (gravity, reinforced, segmented, concrete, block, etc.) and determine the required level of intervention.
  2. Design and Material Selection
We define the structural design considering height, length, curves, drainage, and aesthetics. At the same time, we advise you on materials such as reinforced concrete, stone, prefabricated blocks, or modular systems.
  3. Area Preparation and Excavation
We prepare the site by excavating the terrain, leveling, and compacting the area where the wall will be built.
  4. Base Construction and Drainage System
We install a solid base using compacted gravel or concrete, depending on the wall type. We then implement drainage systems (perforations, piping, and filter material) that allow retained water to be properly discharged.
  5. Wall Construction
We proceed with the assembly or pouring of the wall according to the structural design. For segmented or modular walls, blocks are installed one by one, ensuring alignment, leveling, and interlocking. For concrete or other material walls, we use formwork and metal reinforcement to guarantee strength and stability.
  6. Backfilling and Compaction
Once the wall is completed, we compact the soil using progressive layers to ensure stability and prevent future settling.

Service Benefits

1 - Land Stability: Prevent landslides, erosion, and soil movement, providing structural safety.

2 - Outdoor Space Optimization: Allow the creation of levels, terraces, and usable areas where slopes previously limited functionality.

3 - Efficient Drainage: Structured design reduces water accumulation and protects the property from moisture damage.

4 - Long-Term Durability: The use of durable materials ensures an extended lifespan with minimal maintenance.
